DeGiS’ vision is to build Germany’s largest network of international students – cross-university, cross-city, Germany-wide. We bring together open-minded talents from all over the world by organising city circles, networking events and by organising inspiring mentorship programs. Besides, one very important pillar is the financial support of at least 10 eligible students with our DeGiS scholarship.

The scholarship of course is open to everyone. Nevertheless, DeGiS’ has certain premises for the application and the selection process as outlined below.
In February 2020 DeGiS was happy to announce the grant of its first scholarships to five outstanding students.
Pavithra Pandiaraj is coming from India and is studying for a Master’s degree in Financial Management at Coburg University of Applied Sciences and Arts. Pavithra also holds an MBA degree in International Business from the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (one of the Top Business Schools in India).
Chamath Jayasinghe was born in Sri Lanka and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Renewable Energy Engineering and Management at the University of Freiburg. Apart from that Chamath has an extensive background in Mechatronics.
João Pedro Paula is a Brazilian dancer who has already worked in Austria and Canada. Now João is pursuing a Master’s degree in Choreography at Palucca University of Dance in Dresden.
Danial Abdollahi is coming from Iran and is studying for a Master’s degree in Digital Engineering at Otto von Guericke University of Magdeburg. Danial is also a member of the AIESEC committee in Iran, the organization that focuses on empowering young people to make a progressive social impact and also provides them with leadership development and exchange global experiences.
Burcu Yesil is a Turkish student who is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Integrated Natural Resources Management at Humboldt-Universität. Burcu already holds a Master’s degree in Global Environment, Politics and Society from Edinburgh University. Apart from having a successful academic career, Burcu is a Co-Founder of Zero Waste Platform and a member of Green Thought Association.

In your short essay (max. 300 words) you describe what you have experienced, how that felt, what the particularities of your home country are and ultimately how you envisage to share your learnings with others to ease their way to Germany.
