Deutsche Gesellschaft internationaler Studierender (Engl.: German Association for international students) is a non-profit organisation (NGO) shaping the community for international students and anyone coming to Germany to pursue an academic career and/or employment.
We are connecting internationals across the country and offer a space for exchange by organizing exceptional events – ranging from network parties at the hippest nightclubs in Germany to seminars and receptions with experts from society, politics and business, connecting a unique network of like minded people, offering a scholarship opportunity, opening doors to the German job market and much more. While doing so, we are always aiming to think out of the box and to stay on the pulse of time by addressing our core values diversity, endurance, globalization, internationality and sustainability.
DEGIS is not only about politics, career and education though. We are actively empowering our members to meet, socialize and have fun in a completely unofficial and private setting. Free of judgement, prejudices and eyes of potential future employers, DEGIS members are embracing international friendship and celebrate their time in Germany.
Next to our social effort, DEGIS is offering updated and relevant information on topics that are of utmost importance for its members and members to be. All information can be found in the Germany Guide. Besides deep insights on Living in Germany, Studying in Germany and Visa for Germany, DEGIS prepared objective and exhaustive comparisons for visa prerequisites:
– Blocked Account: a comparison between German Blocked Account providers, insightful emphasising on hidden differences and an ultimate recommendation.
– Health Insurance: an introduction into the German health insurance system and a comparison between governmental providers as well as short-list for private offerings.
For students, but especially for educational institutions like universities and language school, DEGIS has introduced Info Packages for different groups. The Info Packages allow an undistorted understanding of what has to be done in order to obtain a visa and making the arrival in Germany smooth. The Info Package is available for University Students, Language Students, Studienkolleg Students and Scholars. For the latter, DEGIS has also developed exclusive group contracts for a private health insurance that are unprecedented on the market.
No matter what we are doing at DEGIS, we always keep our core values in mind:
